Optical Advisors

Our Optical Advisors are expert and experienced retail individuals able to capture and retain customers as they walk through the door. You will be the heartbeat of the company encouraging new custom and building relationships with people who wish to change their current supplier.

As an Optical Advisor you will be a people person, able to deal with complex issues and advise on course of actions. You must be computer literate as you will be required to input sensitive information into our central database system. You must also have a passion for Optical Retailing as this is mainly a customer facing role.

Audit

Audit

With over 100 retail outlets and thousands of weekly transactions, Optical Express has a substantial inflow and outflow of payments, goods and services. Our audit team ensures that each of these transactions is registered and processed properly.

Loss prevention and fraud detection are two of the audit team’s responsibilities; ensuring that the cost of goods and services are correctly received and banked with no issue is another. The audit team also monitors the distribution of discounts.

Buying & Merchandising

Buying & Merchandising

At Optical Express, we believe that it is extremely important to stay at the forefront of frame styles and contact lens technology. It is our buying and merchandising team’s responsibility to ensure that this is the case.

We rely on this team to stock our stores with the latest range of glasses and sunglasses as well as the most up to date contact lens technology. Drawing from leading manufacturers and renowned designer brands, we strive to provide competitively priced frames to suit every style and budget.

The retail aspect of our business is crucial to our continuing success. Keeping our stores stocked with desirable frames and contact lenses is integral to driving footfall and sales.

Customer Contact Centre

Customer Contact Centre

Our Customer Contact Centre is based in newly refurbished offices situated in the centre of Glasgow.

Our entire Customer Contact Centre team works together to provide support to and enhance the experiences of our patients. A number of different roles exist, from handling inbound and outbound customer enquiries, to booking appointments, to managing teams of operators. As our team members directly deal with patients, it is critical that they have strong communication skills, and are able to use judgment, initiative, and tact while building rapport.

All successful candidates enjoy a fully comprehensive training programme as part of our professional induction programme. There are also numerous opportunities for advancement, as we encourage each individual’s career development.

Customer Services

Customer Services

We pride ourselves on providing a superior level of customer care. Our customer service team works to respond to all enquiries in a prompt and professional manner, ensuring that each customer has a positive experience.

As part of our team, you will be communicating with a variety of customers, from individuals with written enquiries, to retail shoppers, to laser eye surgery patients. We provide our team with all the neccesary training to offer the level of service our customers have come to expect, but it is up to team members to effectively communicate with customers and deliver this expertise.

Finance

Finance

Our finance team is responsible for a wide variety of tasks, from handling invoices, payments and supplier accounts, to tracking revenues and taxes. Given the size and scope of Optical Express, this is no small task and this work is integral to the continued functioning of our business.

Team members can also be expected to perform analysis and prepare forecasts. Optical Express relies on this information to project future growth and trends.

Positions range from Financial Controller to Purchase Ledger Assistant. Team members will work with patients, suppliers and government workers to ensure that our books are complete and accounts are in order.

Hospital Services

In 2007, Optical Express opened the Bridgewater Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility specialising in cosmetic surgery.

Situated in Manchester, the hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technology, as well as a digitalised diagnostic suite, three operating theatres and individual cubicles to provide privacy. We have put these technologies and facilities in place to ensure that patients receive the best treatment and have positive experiences with The Cosmetic Clinic.

Our hospital services team provides the care and performs the procedures that make such high quality service possible. From Cosmetic Surgeons, to General Nurses, to Counsellors, to hospital ward staff, our team provides more than just results for our patients.

Human Resources & Payroll

Human Resources & Payroll

We have over 2,000 employees situated across the UK, Croatia, France, Holland and Germany. It is our human resources and payroll team’s responsibility to support each of these employees, and ensure that they are having a positive and rewarding work experience.

Our human resources and payroll team has both the flexibility and the expertise to take on any number of challenges, working closely with employees from all areas of our business.

IT

IT

With over 100 retail outlets and 2,000 employees, Optical Express depends on its IT team to ensure that its complex networks function smoothly.

Our IT team works to connect each of our locations with our call centre and our extensive patient database, which enables us to provide the best possible care for our patients as well as monitoring how and what we’re doing. Our team is also responsible for maintaining our sales system, developing software programmes, overseeing employee server access and responding to employee queries related to IT Working with our marketing department, our IT team provides support for e-mail and online marketing.

Beyond ongoing tasks, members of our IT team can expect to take on a variety of projects. These projects vary in difficulty and duration, but consistently demand both flexibility and creativity from team members.

Marketing

Marketing

Our marketing team oversees everything from direct mail to online development, working to promote and convey the Optical Express brand. With locations across the UK and the world, our team tailors promotional materials to various regions and clientele.

From print and television advertisements, to storefront displays and promotional schemes, our marketing team employs a number of specialists, including a Graphic Designer, in order to effectively communicate using a number of mediums.

Our marketing team is also responsible for developing, designing and maintaining the Optical Express website.

Optical Laboratory

Optical Laboratory

Based out of our Head Office in Cumbernauld, our optical laboratory fills the orders from our optical clinics, ensuring that all our products are both ready to ship in a timely manner and also meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations.

The optical laboratory team members perform tasks such as glazing and tinting. Though we expect all of our optical laboratory team members to be adept at their jobs, we provide all the requisite training beforehand; team members are not expected to have any prior lab or optical expertise.

Optometry

Join us and work alongside the best. As a world leading provider of laser eye surgery, we have some of the worlds most skilled Optometrists and Ophthalmic Surgeons working with us.

Our International Medical Advisory Board, chaired by Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, acts as the custodian for our deliverance of clinical excellence.

Our Optometrists have access to our state-of-the-art technology, and can expect to work with a wide variety of patients. From contact lens customers coming in for a regular eye-test, to laser eye surgery patients, our Optometrists receive the same unparalleled exposure to technologies and patients as our Ophthalmic Surgeons.

Optical Express has a wide and growing portfolio of properties, from our clinics, to our Customer Contact Centre, Head Office and warehouse.

Our property team oversees each of these locations, managing everything from general maintenance to full refits, and from new builds to site relocations. Employing a range of specialists, our team keeps our existing stores in top condition, while aptly handling the complexities involved in purchasing and building new stores.

The maintenance, renovation and construction of properties is critical in enabling us to achieve our growth objectives. We rely on our property team to provide us with the physical infrastructure to facilitate our continued success.

Our Nurses are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care. As part of our refractive surgery team, you will work alongside our world renowned Surgeons. We have both full and part-time positions, as well as a registered bank of Nurses.

Surgeons

As a Refractive Surgeon for Optical Express you can expect to work in an environment where accuracy and safety come first. Performing LASIK, LASEK, and Intraocular Lens procedures, our Surgeons are supported by well-trained teams of Nurses and Optometrists.

As an integral element in the smooth operations of our business, our warehouse and distribution team performs a number of tasks, from taking in deliveries, to sending out store requests, to sorting mail. This support enables our head office, as well as each of our clinics, to function properly.
